Now offering a secure, online payment system for school meals

St. Mary’s Institute, in partnership with the Greater Amsterdam School District, now offers a secure, online payment system for school meals.

"Families have asked for a convenient, safe way to pay for school lunches for their children," said GASD Food Services Director Robert Bardin. "We evaluated a number of online payment systems and determined that MySchoolBucks.com is the best option for Amsterdam." 

MySchoolBucks.com offers the ability to schedule recurring payments, make automatic deposits when account balances run low, review a child’s 90-day purchase history and receive low balance e-mail notifications. Payments may be made via Visa, Mastercard, Discover, a debit card or an electronic check. 

Students will use their current lunch ID number. This ID number will stay with the student until he/she graduates. If a child has qualified for free or reduced meal prices, this information will be noted in the system, and the meal will be processed just as it is for all other students without any special indication to the students. 

"We are also excited to provide parents with this convenient and secure online payment service," said Bardin. "MySchoolBucks allows you to deposit money directly into your child’s school meal account and view balance/purchase information for the past 90 days.  By having money in each child’s account prior to entering the cafeteria, we find that the lunch lines will move along much faster, which gives your child more time to eat and be with friends."

If you choose not to take advantage of the online payment service you may continue to make advance payments via check, which should be made payable to Greater Amsterdam School District Lunch Fund.  Please remember to write your child’s full name on the check.

 
To access this service:

  1. Go to the school's website at http://saintmarysinstitute.com
  2. Click on the MySchoolBucks Icon
  3. From this website, you can create your account and add money to your child’s school meal account.  All you need is your child’s name, school, and lunch ID number.

Things to know:
  • If you have more than one child in the district, you can handle all online prepayments from the same online account. 
  • Payments may be made with a Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit or debit card. You may also make a payment using an e-check.
  • In order to use the online prepayment service, a small convenience fee for each transaction will be assessed to cover the bank fees.  The convenience fee is $1.95 per deposit transaction.  Parents placing money into multiple meal accounts will be assessed the $1.95 fee only once per deposit transaction. 

Please note: You may fund up to $120 per child, but a family may pay for all of their children on a single transaction. GASD will not profit from the use of this site.
